Title 42 › CHAPTER 6A — PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › SUBCHAPTER XXIII — PREVENTION OF ACQUIRED IMMUNE DEFICIENCY SYNDROME › § 300ee–3
The Secretary of Health and Human Services can give money to nonprofit groups made up of or representing health care providers. The money pays for training on infection control to help stop the spread of the agent that causes AIDS and on how to care for and treat people with AIDS or related illnesses. Grants are allowed only for areas or groups not already served by a similar program. Applicants must provide at least $2 in non‑Federal money or donations for every $1 of federal grant money; those matches can be cash, equipment, or services but cannot be federal funds or things mostly paid for by the federal government. Applicants must submit a written application, give the Secretary the required assurances, and follow the Secretary’s rules. Money may be appropriated as needed for fiscal years 1989 through 1991.
