Title 42 › CHAPTER 6A — PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › SUBCHAPTER XXIV — HIV HEALTH CARE SERVICES PROGRAM › Part G — Notification of Possible Exposure to Infectious Diseases › § 300ff–135
When a designated officer gets a notice under section 300ff–132 or 300ff–133(d)(2), they must, as soon as they can, tell every emergency responder who was at the incident and who, under the Secretary’s guidelines, might have been exposed to an infectious disease. The notice must say the worker may have been exposed and name the disease, tell any medical steps the worker should take under the Secretary’s guidelines, and, if appropriate under those guidelines, give the date of the emergency. If the officer later gets a response under paragraph (3) or (4) of subsection (d) of section 300ff–133, or under subsection (g)(1) of that section, they must promptly tell the employee what that response was.
