Summary

The Secretary must, no later than 180 days after October 30, 2009, finish three things: a list of life‑threatening infectious diseases (including new ones) that emergency responders might face in emergencies; simple rules about when responders could be exposed, based on how response work is done; and rules for how medical facilities should make certain related medical decisions. The list must mark which diseases spread through the air. The Secretary must send the list and rules to state health officials for wider sharing and must make them available to the public.
