The Administrator must work with the Centers for Disease Control and with federal, state, and local officials to review (or hire others to review) ways to stop, find, and deal with deliberate chemical, biological, or radiological contamination of public drinking water and the sources that feed those systems. The review must cover things like monitoring tools (including real‑time sensors), warning systems for operators and the public, training and awareness for water utilities, equipment and steps to stop contaminated water from reaching people, methods to remove or neutralize contaminants and test treatment technologies, and medical studies of short‑ and long‑term health effects. Money to pay for these activities is provided elsewhere in the law.
