Title 42 › CHAPTER 6A — PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › SUBCHAPTER XV — HEALTH INFORMATION AND HEALTH PROMOTION › § 300u–6a
Each listed agency must have an Office of Minority Health inside it. The agency head picks the office leader, who reports directly to them. These offices must be set up at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Health Resources and Services Administration; Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration; Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality; Food and Drug Administration; and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Each director must have documented experience in minority health research and reducing health disparities. Unless another law says otherwise, references to an Office of Minority Health mean the one in the Office of the Secretary. Each year the Secretary must set aside part of an agency’s appropriated funds for that agency’s minority health office, reducing other agency program funds by nearly the same share. The money can pay for the office’s staff.
