Title 42 › CHAPTER 6A — PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › SUBCHAPTER XVII — BLOCK GRANTS › Part B — Block Grants Regarding Mental Health and Substance Use › subpart ii — block grants for substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery services › § 300x–35
The law makes $1,908,079,000 available each year for fiscal years 2023 through 2027 to fund certain programs and activities related to substance use disorders and the specific sections named in the law. Each year, the Secretary must set aside 5 percent of those funds for things like technical help, a national database, data collection, and program evaluations. Of that 5 percent, the Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention must use 20 percent for evaluations and prevention work. States that get new grants from this set‑aside must each year after getting the money collect, analyze, and report a core data set chosen by the Secretary with the States.
