Title 42 › CHAPTER 35 — PROGRAMS FOR OLDER AMERICANS › SUBCHAPTER II — ADMINISTRATION ON AGING › § 3020g
The Secretary of Health and Human Services must use $10,000,000 from the Treasury for fiscal year 2021, available through September 30, 2025, to set up a National Technical Assistance Center on Grandfamilies and Kinship Families. The Secretary will do this through the Administrator of the Administration for Community Living, either directly or by grants or contracts. The Center will give training, technical help, and resources to government programs, nonprofits, community groups, and Indian Tribes, Tribal organizations, and urban Indian organizations that serve grandfamilies and kinship families. It will mainly help families where the main caregiver is age 55 or older or where the child has one or more disabilities. The Center must hire experts to find and develop proven and promising practices in areas such as health (including mental health and substance use disorder treatment), education, nutrition, housing, money and legal issues, disability self-determination, and caregiver support. It must help put those practices into use, promote coordination across systems, share lessons across States, territories, and Tribal entities, help plan for emergencies and disasters, and support equity and culturally and linguistically appropriate approaches.
