Title 42 › CHAPTER 61 — UNIFORM RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AND REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION POLICIES FOR FEDERAL AND FEDERALLY ASSISTED PROGRAMS › SUBCHAPTER II — UNIFORM RELOCATION ASSISTANCE › § 4624
Requires the agency in charge to pay a person who is forced to leave a home that cannot get the payment under section 4623, if they lived in that home for at least 90 days right before negotiations to buy it began or before another event the lead agency sets when the move wasn’t caused by a purchase. The payment must cover what is needed to rent a similar replacement home for up to 42 months, but not more than $7,200, as adjusted by regulation. The agency can pay in installments. For low-income people, the amount is worked out based on their income. A person who qualifies can instead use the payment as a down payment and to pay other buying costs for a decent, safe, sanitary replacement home. The agency may allow them to receive up to the same maximum amount.
