Title 42 › CHAPTER 68 — DISASTER RELIEF › SUBCHAPTER IV — MAJOR DISASTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS › § 5174b
The President may, after talking with a State Governor, waive certain fees for people or households named in section 5174(e)(1). The waiver can cover the passport application fee if a U.S. passport was lost in a major disaster in the last three calendar years, the passport file search fee, and several immigration and citizenship form and service fees (including Form I–193, Form I–90, Form N–300, Form N–565, Form I–765, and the biometric service fee). The waiver for those forms applies even if the person would not qualify for a Form I–912 fee waiver. The usual assistance limit in section 5174(h) does not apply to these waived fees. Within 365 days after October 5, 2018, the Administrator and other agency heads with this power must report to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure about the costs of giving these waivers.
