Title 42 › CHAPTER 73 — DEVELOPMENT OF ENERGY SOURCES › SUBCHAPTER II — NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION; NUCLEAR WHISTLEBLOWER PROTECTION › § 5852
Money set aside for Nuclear Regulatory Commission salaries and expenses can also pay for other things. These include hiring non‑citizens, certain outside services under section 3109 of title 5, sharing atomic information, cleaning and fixing uniforms, reimbursing the General Services Administration for security guards, renting cars and planes, and sending money to other federal agencies to do work and merge with their funds. The Commission may also move up to an extra 5 percent of Office of Inspector General funds to that Office, but must tell the Appropriations Committees when it does. Money for the Office of Inspector General may be used for the same outside services and fund transfers mentioned above. Fees the Commission gets for cooperative research, services to States or foreign or international groups, and material and information access programs (including criminal checks under section 2169) can be kept and used for related salaries and expenses despite section 3302 of title 31 and stay available until spent. The Chairman may use funds to pay voluntary separation incentives for employees who leave between October 7, 1998, and December 31, 2000, following section 663 of Public Law 104–208 except for subsection 663(c)(2)(D). The rules above apply to fiscal year 1999 and every year after.
