Title 42 › CHAPTER 77 — ENERGY CONSERVATION › SUBCHAPTER III — IMPROVING ENERGY EFFICIENCY › Part H — Encouraging Use of Alternative Fuels › § 6374b
Federal agencies must help state and local governments start in the fiscal year ending September 30, 1990, to test in cities buses that run on alternative fuels. They will check emissions, durability, safety, and fuel economy, and compare the different alternative-fuel buses with each other and with diesel buses under the Federal safety and environmental rules for model year 1991. Testing should, when practical, cover each type of alternative-fuel bus. Up to $2,000,000 is authorized for use during the fiscal years ending September 30, 1990, September 30, 1991, and September 30, 1992. A "bus" means a vehicle designed to carry 30 people or more.
