Title 42 › CHAPTER 78 — NATIONAL PETROLEUM RESERVE IN ALASKA › § 6507
The federal government can provide whatever money is needed to the Interior Department to carry out this chapter. If the Secretary of the Interior finds that exploration and study work allowed here is directly causing a sudden, large rise in local demand for services in towns on or near the reserve, and that those towns would face an unfair, heavy cost, the Secretary may help pay for the extra services and facilities. The help must be given through existing federal programs, and the Secretary must talk with the federal agency leaders responsible for the types of services being funded.
