Title 42 › CHAPTER 79 — SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY POLICY, ORGANIZATION AND PRIORITIES › SUBCHAPTER II — OFFICE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY POLICY › § 6625
Creates a new group inside the National Science and Technology Council to find and coordinate international science and technology partnerships that strengthen U.S. science and technology, help economic and national security, and support U.S. foreign policy. The group must be co‑chaired by senior officials from the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the Department of State. The group must plan and coordinate interagency international research and training activities, work with other NSTC committees on international parts of national science and technology priorities, set federal priorities and policies to align those activities with U.S. foreign policy, look for new partnership opportunities, get input from non‑federal stakeholders (like universities, societies, and industry), and identify big issues that make collaboration hard. The OSTP Director must send a report every two years to four congressional committees (Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Senate Foreign Relations; House Science, Space, and Technology; House Foreign Affairs), post the report on the OSTP website, and also send a list of all foreign travel by OSTP staff and detailees within 60 days after January 6, 2017 and each year after. The group ends 10 years after January 6, 2017.
