Title 42 › CHAPTER 79 — SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY POLICY, ORGANIZATION AND PRIORITIES › SUBCHAPTER III — PRESIDENT’S COMMITTEE ON SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY › § 6635
The Committee can hire specialists, experts, and other workers it needs to do its job. It can set pay for those specialists and hire officers and employees under the civil service rules. It can also use civilian and military people who are temporarily assigned to help the Committee. When the Committee asks, a federal agency head can give the Committee information the agency has and can temporarily send agency staff to work for the Committee if the agency is reimbursed. Those temporary assignments must not cause civilians to lose seniority, pay, or benefits, or cause military people to lose rank, status, or pay. Each assignment needs an agreement between the Committee Chairman and the agency head and must follow the rules in subchapter III of chapter 33, title 5.
