Title 42 › CHAPTER 84 — DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY › SUBCHAPTER IV — FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION › § 7178
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission must collect fees and yearly charges each fiscal year, starting in fiscal year 1987, that cover all of its costs for that year. The Commission will set fair and reasonable rules for how to figure those fees. It may use estimates when it needs to. Fees must be paid by the end of the fiscal year they cover. After the year ends, the Commission must correct any over- or under-collection and any over- or under-charging of people. All money goes to the Treasury’s general fund. The Commission can waive fees for good cause. This does not change the rules in sections 803(e) and 823a(e) of title 16.
