Title 42 › CHAPTER 84 — DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY › SUBCHAPTER XVI — ENERGY EMPLOYEES OCCUPATIONAL ILLNESS COMPENSATION PROGRAM › Part B — Program Administration › § 7384t
The United States must pay for medical care, equipment, and supplies a qualified doctor prescribes for an illness when the President finds they are likely to cure the illness, give relief, or lessen its severity or duration. Care can be provided by U.S. medical officers and hospitals or, if the person prefers, by doctors and hospitals the President approves. A person may pick their initial doctor under rules the President sets. Reasonable travel and related expenses to get the care can also be paid. Benefits start on the date the person files a claim under this subchapter. Payments come from the compensation fund in section 7384e of this title. This rule takes effect July 31, 2001, unless Congress changes that date before then.
