Title 42 › CHAPTER 85 — AIR POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL › SUBCHAPTER I — PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES › Part A — Air Quality and Emission Limitations › § 7424
States must, within one year after August 7, 1977, review the parts of their implementation plans that cover large fuel-burning sources. They must find how much the plans depend on using petroleum or natural gas, whether that dependence could make the plans fail over the long term, and how much they rely on coal or coal products that are not available locally or regionally. States must send the results to the Administrator right away. Within eighteen months after August 7, 1977, the Administrator will review those reports and can require states to revise plans if needed to ensure long-term compliance, taking into account possible bans on petroleum or natural gas. Before requiring changes, the Administrator must consider the state’s review and consult with the Governor.
