Title 42 › CHAPTER 85 — AIR POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL › SUBCHAPTER I — PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES › Part A — Air Quality and Emission Limitations › § 7427
States must include steps in their air-quality plans to regularly tell people, during any calendar year, where or when any national primary ambient air quality standard is exceeded or was exceeded during any part of the preceding calendar year. The notices must warn about health risks, explain what people can do to help prevent exceedances, and say how the public can join efforts to improve air quality. These steps can include posting warning signs at interstate highway access points to cities or using television, radio, or press notices. The Administrator can give grants to States to help them carry out these notification measures.
