Title 42 › CHAPTER 91 — NATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION POLICY › SUBCHAPTER II — RESIDENTIAL ENERGY CONSERVATION › Part B — Miscellaneous › § 8231
HUD can give grants to pay for energy-saving upgrades at rental projects with certain HUD loans or HUD-insured mortgages. Projects hurt by high energy costs get priority. Grants must require the recipient to follow HUD’s rules so the savings lower tenants’ rents or reduce any federal operating subsidy. HUD will set minimum upgrade standards. Up to $25,000,000 is available.
