Title 42 › CHAPTER 94 — LOW-INCOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE › SUBCHAPTER II — LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE › § 8625
Bars discrimination in any program or activity that gets money under this law because of race, color, national origin, or sex. It also covers age (under the Age Discrimination Act of 1975) and disability protections for otherwise qualified disabled people (under section 794 of title 29). If a State that received funding breaks these rules, the federal Secretary will tell the State’s top official and give them up to 60 days to fix it. If the State does not comply, the Secretary can ask the Attorney General to sue, use civil‑rights enforcement powers, or take other legal steps. The Attorney General may bring a federal court case and seek remedies like injunctions.
