§1356c Wind Lease Sales for Areas of the Outer Continental Shelf Offshore of Territories of the United States

Summary

The Secretary must ask for information and nominations for proposed wind lease sales on parts of the outer Continental Shelf that are found to be feasible. The Secretary must issue the first such request by September 30, 2025. The Secretary may hold wind lease sales in any area inside the United States’ exclusive economic zone next to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the United States Virgin Islands, or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands if three things are true: the sale is feasible, there is enough interest in leasing the area, and the Secretary has consulted the Governor of the territory about whether the area is suitable for wind energy.
