Title 43 › Chapter 38— CRUDE OIL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS › § 2009
When the President approves a crude oil transportation system, federal agencies must move as fast as the law allows to decide on and give rights-of-way and permits needed to build and run it. After any agency acts, it must publish a notice in the Federal Register. For the Long Beach–Midland project, decisions on permits, rights-of-way, leases, and other federal approvals must follow federal law and be made within 30 days after this chapter takes effect. The President can extend that deadline to no later than 90 days. Notices must be published in the Federal Register. Actions taken before November 9, 1978 are not changed. Rights-of-way are governed by section 185 of title 30, except subsection (w)(2).
