Title 43 › Chapter 39— ABANDONED SHIPWRECKS › § 2103
Require States to let the public have reasonable access to abandoned shipwrecks they own under section 2105. Access must protect natural resources and habitats, allow people to explore for fun and education, and let public or private groups recover wrecks only when it does not harm history or the environment. States are encouraged to set up underwater parks for extra protection. Grants from the Historic Preservation Fund (chapter 3029 of title 54) can pay to study, explain, protect, and preserve historic shipwrecks.
