Title 43 › Chapter 44— OREGON AND CALIFORNIA RAILROAD AND COOS BAY WAGON ROAD GRANT LANDS › Subchapter I— ADMINISTRATION › § 2604
The Secretary of the Interior can make rules and take actions needed to carry out this part of the law. When making forest-practice rules, the Secretary can consult with the Oregon State Board of Forestry, timber owners and operators on or next to those lands, and other interested people or agencies. For protecting the timberlands from fire, the Secretary can work with and make agreements with federal, state, and county fire agencies to cooperate on fire rules. Fire protection rules must follow Oregon’s requirements and practices as long as they do not conflict with U.S. interests.
