Title 43 › Chapter 44— OREGON AND CALIFORNIA RAILROAD AND COOS BAY WAGON ROAD GRANT LANDS › Subchapter III— ADMINISTRATIVE JURISDICTION › § 2631
Certain unselected, unpatented odd-numbered sections inside the indemnity limits of the Oregon and California Railroad land grant (authorized by the Act of July 25, 1866 (14 Stat. 239), as amended April 10, 1869 (16 Stat. 47)), for which the United States paid the railroad under the Act of June 9, 1916 (39 Stat. 218) and the decree in United States v. Oregon and California R. R. Co. (8 F. (2d) 645), and that were put inside national-forest boundaries by presidential proclamations dated June 17, 1892; September 28, 1893; October 5, 1906; January 25, 1907; March 1, 1907; and March 2, 1907, are returned to the United States and must be managed as national-forest land by the Secretary of Agriculture under the same laws and rules as other national forests. All money now or later earned from these lands, and money already placed in special deposit by agreement between the Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of the Interior, must be handled under section 2605. These lands are not covered by other laws that normally decide how federal land receipts are used. Money distributed before June 24, 1954 is not changed. None of these lands or their resources may be exchanged under this or any other law.
