§3001 Definitions

Summary

Defines key words used in the chapter about renewable energy projects on federal land. Covered land is federal land run by the appropriate Secretary that is not blocked from geothermal, solar, or wind development by a land use plan or other federal law. Federal land means public land as defined in section 103 of the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (43 U.S.C. 1702) or land in the National Forest System (see section 1609(a) of title 16). Land use plan means the planning documents made under the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (43 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) for public land, or the land management plan approved, amended, or revised under section 1604 of title 16 for National Forest System land. Eligible project means a project on covered land that uses wind, solar, or geothermal energy to generate energy. Secretary means the Secretary of the Interior.
