Title 43 › Chapter 12— RECLAMATION AND IRRIGATION OF LANDS BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT › Subchapter I— GENERAL PROVISIONS › § 385a
After considering that the need is temporary, the Secretary of the Interior may provide schooling for children of workers building Bureau of Reclamation projects when the construction would unfairly strain local public schools. The Secretary can pay for this from project construction funds. The Secretary must make agreements with the local school districts to share the costs for the schooling, running federal facilities, or expanding local schools. These costs are charged to the project and repaid like other construction costs.
