Title 43 › Chapter 12— RECLAMATION AND IRRIGATION OF LANDS BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT › Subchapter I— GENERAL PROVISIONS › § 390h–11
The Secretary may work with the city and county of Los Angeles, the State of California, the West Basin Municipal Water District, and other local agencies to design, plan, and build projects that clean and reuse about 120,000 acre-feet of wastewater each year from Los Angeles. The goal is to make new water for industry, the environment, and other useful purposes, cut how much water must be imported, and reduce sewage going into Santa Monica Bay. The federal share of the project costs can be no more than 25% of the total. The Secretary must not pay for the project's operation or maintenance.
