Title 43 › CHAPTER 12 — RECLAMATION AND IRRIGATION OF LANDS BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT › SUBCHAPTER I — GENERAL PROVISIONS › § 390h–12
The Secretary may work with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and the Main San Gabriel Water Quality Authority (or a successor public agency) to help design, plan, and build a facility that cleans and stores water in the San Gabriel groundwater basin. The federal share of the project's cost cannot be more than 25 percent, the Secretary cannot pay for operation or maintenance, and this help does not stop the United States from doing other cleanup work or recovering costs under other federal laws.
