Title 43 › Chapter 2— UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY › § 45
Starting March 4, 1909, the Director of the U.S. Geological Survey may make and sell copies of aerial and other photos, mosaics, and photographic copies of records the Director keeps. The sales can be to people, businesses, or organizations and must cover the cost. The Director sets the prices with the Secretary of the Interior’s approval, but never below the estimated cost. Money from sales goes to the U.S. Treasury and is credited to the current fund that pays for making the copies.
