Title 43 › Chapter 12— RECLAMATION AND IRRIGATION OF LANDS BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT › Subchapter XI— MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF WORKS GENERALLY › § 505a–1
Within 2 years after March 12, 2019, the Secretary must send Congress an Asset Management Report that explains how the Bureau is keeping reserved works at Reclamation facilities reliable and how it is making data and reporting more uniform across regions. The report must go beyond the usual asset report and give more detail. The report must include a detailed check of major repair and rehab needs for all reserved works at all projects. When possible, it must list needs for each individual facility, give budget-level cost estimates for each item, and assign a categorical rating for each need. Those ratings must match existing budget-category systems and follow guidance the Secretary issues as soon as practicable after March 12, 2019. The Secretary must publish the report online, but may remove sensitive or classified material while still giving the full version to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the House Committee on Natural Resources. The report must be updated two years after submission and every two years after that. The Secretary should consult the Army Corps (through the Chief of Engineers) and water and power contractors when helpful.
