Title 43 › Chapter 2— UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY › § 50e
The USGS Director must pay, working with a university partner, to design, build, and finish a research facility for energy and minerals and its related buildings. The USGS will keep ownership of the facility. The Director can make deals and accept money or in-kind help from universities, federal or state agencies, or other tenants to plan, design, maintain, run, or improve the facility. The Director can get land from the university partner at no cost to the federal government for at least 99 years. The Director must send Congress yearly reports about the facility and the authorities used. Congress authorized $167,000,000 for fiscal year 2022, available until spent.
