Summary

The Secretary of the Interior may plan, build, run, and keep up basic public outdoor recreation facilities at Sanford Reservoir. The Secretary can buy or include nearby lands needed for recreation and must manage public use of lands, facilities, and water so it fits with the project's other purposes. This authority does not allow giving recreation any share of the project's water, reservoir space, or joint costs, and it does not change the priority for municipal use of Sanford Reservoir water or capacity. The Secretary may make agreements with, or transfer lands to, federal, state, or local public bodies to operate or develop recreation areas. The cost of basic recreation facilities will not be reimbursed. The Secretary must consider the fish and wildlife plan approved December 19, 1962, under sections 600b and 600c when providing recreation facilities.
