Title 43 › Chapter 21— GRANTS IN AID OF RAILROADS AND WAGON ROADS › § 890
The government will confirm and give official ownership papers to settlers who, in good faith, occupied and made homestead, preemption, or other lawful claims on parcels of not more than 160 acres inside a land grant. This applies if the claim was made before the local land office got notice the land was withdrawn, or after the Bureau of Land Management put the land back on the market, and the settlers followed the law and proved their claims.
