Title 43 › Chapter 22— RIGHTS-OF-WAY AND OTHER EASEMENTS IN PUBLIC LANDS › § 931c
Federal officials who manage public lands and national forests (not national parks or monuments) can give permits, leases, or easements to state and local governments and other public agencies for up to 30 years. The agency must charge the fair market value set by an appraisal, and the permit ends if the land stops being used for the public building or work it was granted for.
