Title 43 › Chapter 22— RIGHTS-OF-WAY AND OTHER EASEMENTS IN PUBLIC LANDS › § 956
The Secretary may allow tramroads, canals, or reservoirs on public lands that are not on protected federal or reservation lands, under rules he sets. Permits can cover the water and 50 feet on each side (or 50 feet each side of a tramroad line) and go to U.S. citizens or citizen groups in mining, timber, or water-supply businesses.
