Title 43 › Chapter 23— GRANTS OF SWAMP AND OVERFLOWED LANDS › § 986
Land that states told the General Land Office were swamp and overflowed, and that qualified under the Act of September 28, 1850, before March 3, A.D. 1857, is given to those states. This only applies if the land was still empty, not claimed, and not actually settled under any United States law.
