Title 43 › Chapter 23— GRANTS OF SWAMP AND OVERFLOWED LANDS › § 988
Earlier land‑grant rules apply to Minnesota and Oregon, except lands the United States sold under laws passed before March 12, 1860. States must choose already‑surveyed lands within two years after their next legislature session ending after March 12, 1860; for later surveys, they have two years after notice from the Interior Secretary that the surveys are confirmed.
