Title 44 › Chapter 11— EXECUTIVE AND JUDICIARY PRINTING AND BINDING › § 1108
A head of a federal department or agency, with the President’s approval, may use money set aside for printing to print journals, magazines, and similar publications that they put in writing are needed for official work the law requires. They may also print up to 2,000 extra copies to give away. The Director of the Government Publishing Office, following rules from the Joint Committee on Printing, will print more copies to sell through the Superintendent of Documents, as long as that work does not delay government printing.
