Title 44 › Chapter 25— NATIONAL HISTORICAL PUBLICATIONS AND RECORDS COMMISSION › § 2506
Recipients of federal grant money must keep the records the Archivist requires. The records must show how much money was received, how it was spent, the total cost of the project, how much of the cost came from other sources, and any other papers needed so the grant can be audited. The Archivist and the Comptroller General, or people they appoint, may look at and audit books, documents, and papers that are related to those grants.
