Summary

Federal agencies may keep out of the reports online portal any information that is exempt under section 552 or required to be withheld under section 552a of title 5. The Director does not have to review reports sent for publication to find and remove such information. Agencies also do not have to publish classified material, anything that could harm national security, law-enforcement-sensitive information, or details about information-security policies, procedures, or activities of the executive branch. Agency heads must withhold the exempt parts when publishing required reports to the portal.
