Title 45 › Chapter 18— MILWAUKEE RAILROAD RESTRUCTURING › § 914
The Secretary of Transportation must guarantee Milwaukee Railroad debts that pay worker protection benefits under the railroad’s employee protection agreement. These guarantees can be made without following some usual guarantee rules and are treated as administrative expenses of the railroad’s estate. The unpaid principal guaranteed cannot exceed $75,000,000, and the railroad’s total liability for those benefits also cannot exceed $75,000,000. Except for these guarantees, the United States has no liability to employees.
