Title 46 › Subtitle Subtitle II— Vessels and Seamen › Part B— Inspection and Regulation of Vessels › Chapter 45— UNINSPECTED COMMERCIAL FISHING INDUSTRY VESSELS › § 4505
An enforcement official can tell the person in charge of a covered vessel to take immediate, reasonable steps to keep people safe if the official sees the vessel being operated in a way that creates an especially dangerous situation. The official can order the vessel to go back and stay tied up until the danger is fixed or ends. The official can also order the person in charge of an uninspected fish-processing vessel that does not have the certificate required under section 4503(a)(2) to return and remain tied up until the vessel meets that requirement. That rule does not apply to vessels covered by section 4503a.
