Title 46 › Subtitle Subtitle V— Merchant Marine › Part D— Promotional Programs › Chapter 553— PASSENGER AND CARGO PREFERENCES › Subchapter III— AMERICAN GREAT LAKES VESSELS › § 55335
The Secretary of Transportation can cancel a vessel’s American Great Lakes designation after giving notice and a chance for a hearing if the vessel fails to meet a requirement, was operated in violation of the rules, or its owner or operator broke an agreement made under section 55332(b). If an owner asks and shows good cause, the Secretary may end the designation and may add conditions to that order to avoid significant harm to other U.S. vessel operators.
