The Secretary must tell the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, before it happens, about any hearing that will investigate a major marine casualty that involved a death under section 6301. The Secretary must give those committees or their chair any requested information about a major marine casualty unless a U.S. law stops the sharing. Each year the Secretary must send Congress a short summary of marine casualties reported in the prior fiscal year and a brief note on what was done about them.
