Title 47 › Chapter 11— COMMERCIAL MOBILE SERVICE ALERTS › § 1204
The Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere, with the Secretary of Homeland Security, must create a grant program to fund outdoor alert systems for remote communities the FCC identifies within 180 days after October 13, 2006 so people can get emergency alerts. The Under Secretary must set application rules and may require conditions to protect the program. Grants cannot be made after 5 years from October 13, 2006, and total awards are capped at $10,000,000.
