§1726 General Provisions

Summary

People in the United States must not be kept out of or treated unfairly in any program or activity that gets money under this law because of their race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability. The Assistant Secretary must enforce this by writing rules and taking actions like those in 42 U.S.C. 2000d–1. Courts may review those enforcement actions under 42 U.S.C. 2000d–2. The Assistant Secretary should, when possible, apply the rules without favoring any particular technology. Starting in the first fiscal year money is used for these activities, and in each of the next four fiscal years, Congress may provide $1,000,000 per year to the Commerce Department’s Office of Inspector General to audit and oversee those funds. That money stays available until it is spent.
