§261 Effect on Other Requirements

Summary

Lets the Federal Communications Commission and state utility commissions keep enforcing rules made before February 8, 1996, and lets states make rules after that date, as long as those rules do not conflict with this part. Also lets a State impose extra requirements on a phone carrier’s services inside the state to promote competition for local telephone service or network access, provided those state rules do not conflict with this part or the Commission’s implementing rules.
