§343 Conditions on Commercial Terrestrial Operations

Summary

The Commission must not allow commercial ground-based use of the 1525–1559 MHz or 1626.5–1660.5 MHz bands until 90 days after it has solved worries that such use would cause widespread harmful interference to covered GPS devices. After it makes a final decision, the Commission must send official copies of that decision to four congressional committees: the House Committees on Energy and Commerce and on Armed Services, and the Senate Committees on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and on Armed Services. If the decision allows the operations, the papers must explain how the interference worries were fixed. A "covered GPS device" means a Department of Defense GPS device.
