Title 48 › Chapter 13— EASTERN SAMOA › § 1663
Deeds and other land papers for the District of Columbia or any U.S. Territory can be acknowledged in Guam, Samoa, or the Canal Zone. They may be acknowledged before a notary, a judge appointed there, or an official who has notary powers because of their job. The notary’s certificate must include a separate certificate from the governor or acting governor confirming the official’s identity. Documents acknowledged that way since January 1, 1905 are given the same legal effect as future ones so certified.
